Idiocism

July 17, 2008

I am not a stranger to Idiocy. I used to be a socialist in my younger days - the type which thinks all rich people are somehow guilty and hates all the shoppers at Spencer Plaza with a passion. I even wrote an "article" in my college newspaper denouncing the vices of capitalism and free markets. For such a species as mine , there was no worser enemy than co-students who read Ayn Rand (or pretended to) and thought regulation was the worst possible thing in the universe. Thats part of the reason, why i am happy at the thought of the looming recession/depression - my erstwhile idiological enemies were wrong too!. They have had the control of the world's financial system for the last two decades and look at the mess they have made out of it.

Oh common! The problem is not with the idealogy - either capitalism or socialism. The problem is that we humans are basically greedy and stupid.

I lean towards capialism myself, since people can be trusted to do the selfish thing - which socialism doesn't do. But the problem is, we also trust people to do the smart thing... which rarely happens.
